Flexible working hours

Definition of flextime

The purpose of flextime is to adjust the weekly work schedule, within certain limits, according to the economic situation and the company's order volume.

In practice, flextime consists in varying the working hours within certain limits according to the economic situation. The salaries of the employees do not vary. At the end of the year, in principle, the hours not worked are compensated by the hours worked in excess.

Collective employment contract

Such a system derogates from the rules of the Labor Act with regard to working hours and weekly working time. It can only be implemented when a collective employment contract allows it. This is the case for the collective labor agreement of the Swiss watch and microtechnology industries. The flexible working hours are also subject to other strict conditions.
